PayPal’s blockchain companion by accident minted $300 trillion in stablecoins

In an embarrassing error, PayPal blockchain companion Paxos by accident minted 300 trillion of the PYUSD token immediately. PayPal’s stablecoin, which it debuted in 2023, is meant to be redeemable at a 1:1 charge for US {dollars}. $300 trillion is greater than double all the world’s present GDP of $117 trillion. In brief, that is a very dangerous mistake from Paxos.

At the least the motion did seem like a mistake.
